November 2008

Brother Knights;

We had a long meeting this month but accomplished many objectives we had planned. Our revised By-Laws and increase in dues were approved. The dues are now $24.00 per month. This breaks down to $2.00 per month making it an easy way to access new members partial dues depending on when they become active. We also approved our scholarship agenda for those children graduating from Holy Family School and continuing their high school education at one of our local Catholic High Schools.

Our meeting in December will be in the social hall (6:30) of the old church basement. This will be our annual family Christmas dinner. Please bring a gift for your children or grand-children and have their name marked on it so Santa can distribute the gifts.
We will also be having an adult gift exchange. Presents should be in the $20.00 cost range and please mark your gift with an F or an M if the gift is specifically for a female or male. There is no need to mark any gift if it can be used by either sex.
The food will be provided by Bady's catering. If you have a favorite dessert you would like to share it will be welcome.  Bady's only supplies the dinner, no desserts.

Brothers, please leave a few Saturdays open in January. We are hoping to have our free-throw contest the second week of January. We will need volunteers to help register entrants, help with the scoring and help retrieve basketballs for the shooters. All in all, I need about 8 people. Greg Schlegel has volunteered to get the gym scheduled and when I have a definite date I will let you know. Jeff Lerch has also agreed to lend his computer skills to make out certificates for the entrants.

We also will need some brothers to help judge posters for those children who entered our poster contest. The posters are due back to us January 9 and I would like to have the winners decided by January 16. We will get together one day during that week, probably a Wednesday evening, to decide on a winner. All winners will be receiving a monetary gift from our council and winners will go on too district, state, national and international contests, each offering monetary rewards. The theme is drug and alcohol abuse awareness.
God bless,

John Kelly, Grand Knight

Fraternal Report – It is with great sadness we report the passing of our Brother Knight Eugene Clark from the Martins Creek Council.  Kindly remember him and his family in your prayers as well as those Brother Knights and their family members who are ill and/or recuperating at home or in the hospital.  Also, please continue to remember and pray for the souls of our other deceased members.   One of the most important ways Knights support each other is through prayer, especially at times of illness or death.

Football Ticket sales are finished with our effort now moving to COAL Tickets, Entertainment Books and “Christ In Christmas” magnets.  We have upcoming work to do on a Poster Contest and a Free Throw Contest in January and the Lenten Fish Fry coming soon.  Please help out with sales whenever possible and consider stopping by before and after mass in the future as sales will also be taking place in the back of church.
