October 2008

Grand Knight’s Message Brother Knights,

Congratulations on achieving the Star Council. Our goal for the year was

admitting 6 new members and 3 new insurance members. We were the only

council in the district to receive the award this year. Thank you for the

effort and remember to Keep Recruiting. Thank You.

Please make an effort to be at our November meeting. We will be discussing

and voting on changes to our By-Laws, including an increase in our yearly

dues. Our annual fee, $12.00, has not changed since our council was

established 50 years ago.

This is a busy month for our council. We have been challenged by council

14464 of Bath the weekend of Oct. 10-12 in different events. Here is a

portion of Ken Boyce's E-MAIL:  (Editor’s apology for late date of letter delivery)

Council 14464 invites/challenges Council 4282 to join us in our first

annual celebration of Columbus Day Weekend. Here is a tentative schedule

of events; please feel free to join us in any or all of the events

scheduled.

Friday 10/10 - Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus

Church, Bath.

Saturday 10/11 - Family picnic at Green St. Park, Bath (behind the

American Legion). There is a pavilion. each family brings its own

everything to eat and drink. It is anticipated that there will be

competitions in bocce, softball, quoits etc. Think your council can beat

us in any of these?

Sunday 10/12 - Living Rosary to be prayed in Sacred Heart of  Jesus Church

at 2:00 p.m. All are invited to participate.

Let's try and show our spirit of togetherness and meet our fellow brothers

through the entire weekend if possible.

The weekend of Oct. 18-19 we will not be selling our fund raising wares

before and after Masses. This is our Blitz weekend. We will be

distributing "Roses for Life" to all parishioners as they enter church.

There will be baskets for donations to help defer the cost but donations

are not required form the parishioners.

The following weekend is the Church Bazaar held in the gym. We will be

selling our fund raisers in the gym that weekend. Saturday and Sunday

hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. We sell at the Church Bazaar

through the generosity of the Altar Rosary society. To show our thanks we

have agreed to clean up the gym after closing down Sunday afternoon. We

need all the help we can get at this time. Many hands make quick work.

Also this month is Confirmation on Oct. 28 at which the Fourth Degree

Honor Guard escorts the Bishop and priests to church and serves at Mass.

I hope I didn't forget anything because I don't think we can squeeze any

thing else into this month.

Again, please help out where and when you can.

God Bless

John Kelly, Grand Knight.
