October 2007

Grand Knight’s Message – Brother Knights, the cold weather is settling in and that brings around a few things we need to get done at this time of year. The first is our fraternal survey. There will be worksheets to figure out your volunteer hours sent out with this newsletter. Any community or Church functions you volunteer for can be counted, e.g., our Church picnic, singing in the choir or any volunteer work with the Church, the Knights or the Nazareth community. The number of collective hours of volunteer work helps keep the K of C as a non-profit organization. Please bring the completed worksheets to the November meeting or mail them to our P.O. Box 511 in Nazareth. Secondly, our family Christmas party will be Wednesday, December 5th in place of our monthly business meeting. I will need a head count of who is coming and how many children will be present. As in the past, Santa will be there and hand out the presents you bring for your children. Please bring a wrapped present for your children if you want them to participate. A form is included in this newsletter for you to use. Again, bring it to the November meeting or mail it to me at the P.O.box.  - G. K. John Kelly

Fraternal Report – Kindly remember in your prayers those Brother Knights and their family members who are ill and/or recuperating at home or in the hospital especially Judy Tanzosh, wife of PGK Bill Tanzosh. Also, please continue to remember and pray for the souls of the deceased members and their families. Remember, one of the most important ways Knights support each other is through prayer, especially at times of illness or death. Anyone knowing of a member of this council or a council member’s family who is sick or in need of assistance should contact any council officer.

Membership –At the October meeting, new membership applications were read and approved for Thomas D. Crimi and Craig C. Snyder. Anyone knowing of a prospective new member should contact Membership Chairman PGK Bill Tanzosh at 610-759-3161. Remember, October is our semi-annual membership “Blitz” month. Recruit a new member!

Rose and Rosary Presentations – Monthly presentations of a rose, Rosary and Rosary ring to the mothers of infants being baptized are held at both Holy Family and Sacred Heart, Bath. Volunteers are always welcome to conduct or assist in conducting the presentations. To volunteer at Holy Family call Terry Dunne at 610-746-2676. Terry is setting up a six month schedule which will run through February to help eliminate the need to get presenters at the last minute.

First Degree Team – Anyone interested in participating as a mock candidate or as an alternate member of the team is invited to attend any of the practices that are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Wortman Center.

Knights of Columbus Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM in Holy Family Parish’s Wortman Center. All members are encouraged to attend. After each meeting there is an opportunity for excellent refreshments and fellowship with your brother Knights. Plan to stop in and check it out next month. Also remember that, if conditions are such that you are unable to attend meetings, you can still aid the council by volunteering to participate in any of the various activities which the council conducts. We need you!
