September 2007

Grand Knight’s Message – Brothers, summer is officially over. For some of us it’s time to get back to work, some of us never stopped, and some of us reached that great age of retirement. With summer vacations over I’m hoping and praying our meeting attendance rises. At September’s meeting I went over a list of coming events. I will be setting up a table, hopefully, on the right side of the church narthex to sell our Entertainment books, Football Sweepstakes and C.O.A.L. tickets before and after each of the Masses on Saturdays and Sundays. If you can help, before or after any of the Masses, please call me at 610-217-2778. Next month is our membership blitz. Our D.D. Frank Gualano gave me a script that the Easton council uses for their Council’s blitz. I’ll be looking for some volunteers for each Mass to present our membership offer after the Masses on whatever weekend we decide to hold our Council’s blitz.    G. K. John Kelly

Fraternal Report – Kindly remember in your prayers those Brother Knights and their family members who are ill and/or recuperating at home or in the hospital especially Judy Tanzosh, wife of PGK Bill Tanzosh. Also, please continue to remember and pray for the souls of the deceased members and their families. Remember, one of the most important ways Knights support each other is through prayer, especially at times of illness or death. Anyone knowing of a member of this council or a council member’s family who is sick or in need of assistance should contact any council officer.

Membership – At the August meeting, new membership applications were read and approved for Ronald E. Tasillo and Floyd F. Caiazzo and transfer applications were approved for Deacon Joseph H. Pufko and David L. Posa. My apologies to all whose names were misspelled in the last newsletter. At the September meeting, a new membership application was read and approved for John A. Tintorri. Anyone knowing of a prospective new member should contact Membership Chairman Russ Ayers at 610-759-6464.

Rose and Rosary Presentations – Monthly presentations of a rose, Rosary and Rosary ring to the mothers of infants being baptized are held at both Holy Family and Sacred Heart, Bath. Volunteers are always welcome to conduct or assist in conducting the presentations.

First Degree Team – Anyone interested in participating as an alternate member of the team is invited to attend any of the practices that are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Wortman Center.

Insurance News– Our K of C Insurance field representative, Bruce J. Micciulla, reminds all Brother Knights that, if you have sufficient life insurance for yourselves (he can help you to determine whether or not you do), you might want to investigate policies for your children. The most important reason to consider purchasing policies for your children is that by starting low-cost children’s policies now, you can help them meet future needs. Moreover, if your child develops a medical condition later on, you’ve basically “guaranteed her insurability,” and any medical condition won’t be an obstacle to obtaining additional coverage at standard rates. Bruce will happily provide all Brother Knights with a no-obligation family needs analysis. Contact Bruce at 610-905-4109 or at bruce@micciulla.com. You might also want to check out Bruce’s blog at www.catholicvoice.blogspot.com.

Birthday Corrections - Sorry for omitting Brother Knight William T. Serencsits birth date of 7/23 from the July listing. The official roster from Supreme Council has the wrong date. Also, sorry for missing Brother Knight Charles M. Otranto’s birth date of 6/25. Note: any time you spot an error, especially in name spelling or dates, please notify the Grand Knight. This might signify an error in official Supreme Council records and could possibly result problems when trying to claim benefits if not corrected now.

Knights of Columbus Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM in Holy Family Parish’s Wortman Center. All members are encouraged to attend. After each meeting there is an opportunity for excellent refreshments and fellowship with your brother Knights. Plan to stop in and check it out next month. Also remember that, if conditions are such that you are unable to attend meetings, you can still aid the council by volunteering to participate in any of the various activities which the council conducts. We need you!
