August 2008

Grand Knight's Message - I would like to thank everyone who turned out to help at Nazareth Day and the Church picnic. Back to back weekends are a lot to ask of people. Thanks again for volunteering your time for our council.

Please pass the word to any Knight from our council about the picnic on September 6 at Terry Dunne's place. Officers with telephone call lists should be placing calls to those listed under their names. It would be great to see those who can't make the meetings. Also, if you have a potential candidate who would be interested in becoming a Knight please invite them and their family. If you will be bringing someone as a potential member please give me a call so I can let Terry know of additional people attending the Picnic.

We will be starting up two new programs for the children attending Holy Family School and attending C.C.D. classes. There is Alcohol and Drug Abuse poster contest and an essay contest on how being a Catholic influences their lives. I'll have more information about these programs at our next meeting.

Sales time,( our way to raise funds to support our interests in Church and community activities), is right around the comer. We will start selling football and C.O.A.L. tickets, Keep Christ in Christmas, and Entertainment Books,(when we get them), before and after Masses again. Please try and help out at what ever Mass you attend.

Please remember all our brother Knights and their families who are in need of prayers.

God Bless,.

John Kelly, Grand Knight

Fraternal Report - Kindly remember in your prayers those Brother Knights and their family members who are ill and/or recuperating at home or in the hospital. Please remember our District Deputy Bruce Wermann who has four broken ribs after falling from the edge of his swimming pool. Also, please continue to remember and pray for the souls of the deceased members and their families. Remember, one of the most important ways Knights support each other is through prayer, especially at times of illness or death. Anyone knowing of a member of this councilor a council member's family who is sick or in need of assistance should contact any council officer.

Membership - Anyone knowing of a prospective new member should contact Membership Chairman PGK Bill Tanzosh at 610-759-3161.

Rose and Rosary Presentations - Monthly presentations of a rose, Rosary and Rosary ring to the mothers of infants being baptized are held at Holy Family. Volunteers are always welcome to conduct or assist in conducting the presentations. Call Terry Dunne at 610-746-2676.

Insurance News- Our K of C Insurance field representative is John J. Matusel, who reminds all Brother Knights that the more things change the more they stay the same. This maxim certainly holds true with life insurance planning. If someone earns an income to support a family, family-income protection through life insurance is of utmost importance. John will happily provide all Brother Knights with a no-obligation family needs analysis. Contact 570-654-3380.

Knights of Columbus Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in Holy Family Parish's Wortman Center. All members are encouraged to attend. After each meeting there is an opportunity for excellent refreshments and fellowship with your brother Knights. Plan to stop in and check it out next month. Also remember that, if conditions are such that you are unable to attend meetings, you can still aid the council by volunteering to participate in any of the various activities which the council conducts. We need you!
