January 2008

Grand Knight’s Message – Brother Knights, I hope the new year is a prosperous one for all our members and their families and loved ones. I had the pleasure of celebrating the new year with my new, 8 month old, granddaughter, but enough from the proud grandfather. We started the new year with our council free throw competition on Saturday, the 12th of  January. Thanks to all who volunteered to help make this event a success. The district free throw contest will be held at Holy Family Gym on February 2nd from noon to 3:00. This will happen before our February meeting. Please mark your “TO DO” books and keep the date in mind. Our February meeting falls on Ash Wednesday. I plan to have the meeting on that date but start at 8:00 p.m. after Mass. It will be a short meeting due to the late start. The Lenten season also brings us together for our annual Fish Feasts. See the attached flier for details. As always, we will need your volunteer help to make this event a success. Remember to keep in your prayers all the brothers and their family members who are ill or grieving. ---- G. K. John Kelly

Fraternal Report – Kindly remember in your prayers those Brother Knights and their family members who are ill and/or recuperating at home or in the hospital especially Judy Tanzosh, wife of PGK Bill Tanzosh. Also, please continue to remember and pray for the souls of the deceased members and their families. Remember that one of the most important ways Knights support each other is through prayer, especially at times of illness or death. Anyone knowing of a member of this council or a council member’s family who is sick or in need of assistance should contact any council officer.

Membership – Anyone knowing of a prospective new member should contact Membership Chairman PGK Bill Tanzosh at 610-759-3161.

Rose and Rosary Presentations – Monthly presentations of a rose, Rosary and Rosary ring to the mothers of infants being baptized are held at both Holy Family and Sacred Heart, Bath. Volunteers are always welcome to conduct or assist in conducting the presentations. To volunteer at Holy Family call Terry Dunne at 610-746-2676.

Basketball Free Throw Competition – The annual K of C Free Throw Competition was held on Saturday, January 12th. in the Holy Family gym. Results will be published in the next newsletter.

Lenten Friday Fish Feasts – Planning is underway for this year’s Lenten Friday Fish Feast fundraiser. There will be two dates this year, February 15 and February 29 (see attached flier.) If you helped in any way in the past we need your help again this year, especially since there is so little time to get ready this year.

Attendance Drawing – No attendance drawing was held at the January meeting. If you attend the February 6th meeting you will have a chance to win the next attendance prize.

Knights of Columbus Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM in Holy Family Parish’s Wortman Center. All members are encouraged to attend. After each meeting there is an opportunity for excellent refreshments and fellowship with your brother Knights. Plan to stop in and check it out next month. Also remember that, if conditions are such that you are unable to attend meetings, you can still aid the council by volunteering to participate in any of the various activities which the council conducts. We need you!
